Custom

Creating one-off individual pieces is the most exciting part of being a jewellery maker and designer.

Taking precious materials like gold, silver and gemstones and weaving your individual history, story and memories into a wearable work that can be cherished for years and even handed down through generations, is a privilege.

I aim to tailor the custom-made journey to suit your needs, using age-old traditional metalsmithing techniques to create contemporary pieces that are sustainably made with integrity and consideration.

For some ideas and to see what is possible have a look at my Precious Ring Collection. Any piece can be customized or a completely new piece can be made just for you or a loved one!

The Process

Now that you’ve had a look at my designs maybe you’ve seen exactly what you are after! Alternatively I encourage you to bring your own unique vision and design to the process.

I’ve outlined the process below for those who have never invested in a custom-made experience (it’s great, I promise!)

Stump

1. Every commission is different but the process often remains similar. Whether you have an exact idea or none whatsoever we can work through different designs and concepts. Get in touch on Instagram, through this website or via email - link below.

2. I’ll respond to you by asking you a few initial questions such as; what sort of piece you are after? What kind of materials do you have in mind? Do you want to include gemstones or other features? Who is the jewellery for? What kind of jewellery or object are they normally attracted to? and so on! I may send you some imagery, photographs or selected previous designs to give you a few visual cues and concepts.

3. Depending on where you are located, we can either meet in person or through online teleconferencing. This first consultation will give me a more in-depth understanding of what you are after. The more ideas and the more you share the better! This initial meeting will also help to iron out any particulars such as ring sizing, design direction, technical details, metal and gemstone type and any further explanation of the custom-made journey. I’m also more than happy to re-model and work with gemstones or sentimental jewellery pieces you may have in your collection.

4. Based on our initial discussion, I can source a selection of gemstones for you to select your favourites from. I can also provide a few sketches to help visualise the finer details of proportions and design.

5. We can then have our second consult where I will show you the drawings, gems and start to discuss pricing and options to suit your budget. Once we have confirmed the design and gemstone details I can send you an invoice and upon receiving a 50% deposit the making can begin!

Making-Made

6. Depending on stone sourcing and the level of complication in the design, bespoke pieces usually take 5-8 weeks. We can organise consults along the journey to check in or check sizing and finer details if needed. For special occasions and particular cases I will always try to accommodate tight deadlines, but custom makes do take time and it would be dependent on my workload and other ongoing commissions and projects at that time.

7. We can meet again or I can take photographs of the completed piece, depending on our mutual schedules and locations. Once you are happy (hopefully more than!) with the piece, the final 50% deposit can be paid and you can walk away with your one-of-a-kind handmade jewelerry that will last for generations to come.
